President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed gratitude to all Nigerians who sent him good wishes on his birthday.
He thanked them for such messages, adding that it was not his character to celebrate.
The Nigerian leader expressed these views some forty minutes ago via his verified Twitter account.
He said he tried avoiding celebration by fixing his return from America on his birthday.
Buhari stated that he gave thanks to the Almighty for the gift of life and the opportunity to serve Nigerians.
Buhari today tweeted thus:’I’m grateful for the outpouring of good wishes for my 80th birthday. I tried to avoid having to celebrate, by fixing our return journey from the United States on that day, but I didn’t quite succeed. I give thanks to the Almighty for the gift of life, and the opportunity to serve. ‘
