July 13: Gov promises free, fair elections
The Delta State Governor, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori yesterday promised all political parties and Deltans that the July council polls shall be free and fair.
Chief Josiah Efetobor , Executive Assistant to the governor on inter party affairs disclosed this yesterday while addressing members of the National Rescue Movement in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
Efetobor said that the governor as a democratic was committed to free and fair polls, adding that the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission has been given free hand to do just that.
The Executive Assistant therefore called on all opposition political parties to fully participate in the local council polls.
He also said the electoral body would provide level playing ground for all, adding that only the genuine winners shall emerge as chairmen and councillors.
Responding the state chairman of National Rescue Movement, Chief Emmanuel America said his party was satisfied from the assurances of the governor as regards the council polls.
America said that his party shall fully participate in the council election with the hope of winning.
He therefore called on other opposition political parties to participate in the July 13 council polls.
