Delta State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Isaiah Bozimo Esq, has said that access to justice was one of the fundamental and vital ingredients of the Sustainable Development Goals being pursued globally.

Mr. Bozimo stated this in his office in Asaba while speaking on World Legal Aid Day.

He said that legal aid was important since it facilitated access to justice.

He said that under the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria , it was the fundamental rights of every individual to have access to justice.

The commissioner stated that the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria was saddled with the responsibility of providing free legal services to indigent Nigerians.

He said that the office of the Public Defender was established in the state to provide free legal services to residents and citizens of the state who ordinarily might not able to afford such services

.
