
Some Bini youths today dragged Pedro Obaseki, the younger brother of Godwin Obaseki, former Edo state governor to the Oba palace in Benin City .
The youths were angered by some derogatory remarks against the Oba by Obaseki two weeks ago abroad.
In a viral video by Chris Osa and posted by Collins Ossai on Facebook today showed Obaseki on his knees.
The visibly angry youths speaking Bini language accused Obaseki of ‘Oghioba’ activities and uncouth words against the Oba of Benin.
The youths, some of them shirtless, continued to rain abusive words on Obaseki.
Two chiefs adorned in white complete with royal insignia approached the youths and called for calm.
Obaseki equally shirtless and was asked to stand up.
The chief told the youths that the Bini kingdom was in holy week and that the Oba was a man of peace.
Before leading Obaseki to the palace, the youths made him to pledge his loyalty to the king.
The Pond News recalled that Godwin Obaseki as a governor had frosty relationship with the Oba to the extent of equating the Oba with other traditional rulers in the state.
At the time of this report, there was no official statement from the palace.
