The Obiedent movement in Asaba, the Delta State capital celebrated Nigeria’s Independence day by staging a march in support of Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate.
The march started at 10am at the popular Inter Bau roundabout.
The crowd in their thousands made of young men and women moved from there passing the federal medical centre, Stephen Keshi stadium to Ogbogonogo market on Nnebisi.
They also passed by Grand Hotel, Police Area command and ending at Traffic Light.
The march was peaceful with shouts of ‘Obi’ renting the air but for three hours, there was no vehicles on Nnebisi Road.
Two musical groups accompanied the marchers and there was lot of dancing.
The police followed the marchers to maintain peace.
A bystander who simply identified himself as Uche commended the LP followers, however, expressing worries that most of the marchers may not have voters cards.
