Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has eulogised the resourfulness of Mr. Celestine Ofuani, Deputy Director in the Ministry of Information, describing him as a dependable information manager who had contributed immensely in disseminating the policy thrust and programmes of the state government at all times.
Aniagwu stated this at Ubulu-Okiti in Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state during the burial of the mother of Mr. Ofuani, Late Ezinne Maria Chioboam Ofuani.
The Information Commissioner, represented by the Functioning Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Lucky Omokri , said that Ofuani was a jolly good fellow and a competent management staff of the ministry.
He stated that, though the death of every loved one was a painful experience, Late Ezinne Maria Ofuani who transited at the ripe age of 90 years lived a fulfilled life, worthy of emulation.
Aniagwu urged Ofuani and his siblings to sustain the legacies of their mother, adding that it was the only way they could immortalise their mother, just as he advised them to remain united and peaceful for the uplifting of their family.
In an interview with journalists, the Chairman of the Information Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) , Comrade Kenneth Obieh, said that Ofuani was always accessible to all.
Obieh, who described information officers as one indivisible family, noted that as the chairman of the chapel, he would strive for the good of all information officers, even as he appealed for continued support for his administration.
Earlier in a funeral mass, held at the St. James Catholic Church, Ubulu-Okiti, which was attended by the immediate past Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Chief Paul Osahor, and a sizeable number of information officers and top management staff of the ministry, Very Revd. Fr. Festus Okocha stated that the Late Ezinne Maria Ofuani impacted positively on so many lives, especially as a teacher and a passionate servant of God.
In his remarks, Mr. Celestine Ofuani said his mother was everything to him, adding that she brought so many transformation in his life by giving him and his siblings a solid foundation in life.
Ofuani added that the exit of his mother had created a vacuum in their lives, saying, however, that they were glad that lived a fulfilled life.
The burial was attended by the Director of Information, Mrs. Theresa Adiabua-Oliko; Mr. Harold Orji, Director of Government Printing, and the Director of Orientation in the state Orientation Bureau, Mrs. Stella Macaulay; the immediate past Chairperson of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Mrs. Patricia Gbemudu, many other directors and staff of the ministry, including the Editor of the Delta State News Bulletin in the ministry, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, among others.
