
The Delta State House of Assembly is working round the clock to check the spate of insecurity in the state
The speaker of the House Rt Hon.Guwor Emomotimi Dennis gave this assurance today in Asaba while speaking to reporters as part of the activities marking the second year of the 8th Assembly.
While sympathizing with victims of recent unfortunate security incidents, the speaker said a bill has been introduced to amend the Delta State community security corps agency law.
The House ,according to the speaker would frontally confront the security challenges with the executive arm of government.
On the controversy trailing the delineation of wards in the Warri Federal constituency, he appealed to all to embrace peace as the federal government was working to solve the problem.
The speaker pleaded thus :’To everyone in Warri Federal constituency, I urge restraint, dialogue, and maturity in the wards delineation…. Let us give peace a chance.’
On enforcement of laws passed by the House, the speaker disclosed that steps are being taken to make sure that the anti grazing law is given a bite.
He stated that council chairmen are being brought on board to ensure effective implementation of the law.
The speaker used the opportunity to apologize to journalists who were locked out during the state of state address by Governor Sheriff Óborevwori in the Assembly.
The speaker acknowledged the role of the press in the achievements of the House.
